Jatan Maya Rai

Jatan Maya Rai is 51 years old and lives in a rural village called Limlima Basti in the Ilam District of Nepal. She lives with her husband and one child.

Like Jatan Maya, her husband is also a farmer and earns a small amount of money, which is not enough to fulfil their daily needs or to attend to their children's good education and health.

Jatan Maya and her husband decided to invest in a tea farming business in their small plot of land.

By selling the produce from her tea farming business Jatan Maya and her family will be able to improve their living conditions. Jatan Maya requested a loan from her local microfinance institution, Nirdhan Utthan Bank.

She hopes to use the profits of her business to provide her children with better education and health.
